Amnesty International Annual Report - 1973-1974
Guinea

Amnesty International continues to be concerned at the large number of political prisoners and detainees in Guinea, and has begun to produce case sheets on individual prisoners after direct approaches to the Guinean Government proved fruitless. The latest of these was a letter from the Secretary General of Amnesty International to President Sekou Toure of Guinea in January 1974, which asked for the release of 22 Europeans who had been imprisoned on political grounds in Guinea since January 1971. No reply was received to this request, which was also made by Amnesty International's United States Section.
